About Rachel Pasternak Rochester, NY Wedding Event Planning services

Local wedding planner followed her dream
As featured in the Rochester D&C by Leah Stacy

In 30 words or less, describe what you do all day at work: I help brides and special-event clients design and manage their weddings and events. This includes everything from calling vendors and arranging appointments to assembling favors and centerpieces.

What's your favorite thing to do outside of work? Performing with local musical theater groups.

Where do you get your coffee? I'm a big tea drinker. The Decaf Ginger Peach at Spot Coffee is divine.

What's your adult beverage of choice? I don't drink, but if I did it'd be a Buttery Nipple.

What's your favorite bar? I love Edibles.

Describe your personal style: Black suit for work and usually jeans/a cute top or a really fitted dress when going out.

What was the last great meal you had? Actually, one I cooked myself: a ham and asparagus lasagna with a homemade nutmeg cream sauce — and cake balls for dessert.

What's the next movie you want to see? Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

What do you DVR? I'm still stuck in the 1980s — I don't have DVR.

What's the last CD you bought or downloaded? New Miserable Experience, by the Gin Blossoms. Brought back a lot of great eighth grade dance memories.

Have you ever met a celebrity? I lunched with Foreigner's lead vocalist, Lou Gramm; his son, Nick Grammatico (who owns Piranha) and I both attended the Harley School. I also went to a John Kerry presidential campaign fundraiser at (Jon) Bon Jovi's house in New Jersey.

What's your favorite book? As the Waltz Was Ending, by Emma Butterworth.

What's in your glove compartment? Ritz Crackers, insurance information and Cookies n' Cream Baskin Robbins candies from the dollar store. They're awful.

When's bedtime? Three a.m., after two King of the Hill reruns.

What do you do for exercise? Total Body Conditioning class at the Pittsford RAC and the treadmill.

What one thing — not person or pet — would you save in a fire? My mezuzah and my grandmother's ring.

What makes you cringe? Individuals at the beach who are sorely in need of a back wax.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, living or dead, who would it be? Elvis Presley. He's my favorite performer of all time.

If you could relive one moment, what would it be? Syracuse graduation day in 2003. I was armed with a political science degree and no plans, except to let fate take me where I was meant to go.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Running a very successful wedding and event planning business and directing a theater company that works with underprivileged and sick children.
